Turquoise Signs Eight-Year Research Contract To Partner With Hinkley Point

Turquoise Thinking is delighted to announce that it has entered into an eight-year Partnership Agreement with EDF Energy to manage its ongoing employee engagement programme and to help deliver actionable insights from the results.

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is one of the most ambitious construction projects the UK has ever seen. The power generation plant will cost around £20 billion to build, and is due to go live in 2025. When it does so, it will provide employment to around 25,000 people, and is expected to deliver cleaner energy than existing power stations, resulting in a net saving of 600 million tonnes of CO2 over its 60-year lifespan.

However, there are already more than 3,000 people working day in and day out on the project, and Turquoise will be playing an important role in gathering employee feedback on a range of topics through a combination of surveys and face to face meetings.

“We are thrilled to have been selected to partner with EDF Hinkley Point C. This type of world class project rarely lands on our Devon doorstep, so we count it a real privilege to play a small role in such a gargantuan undertaking over the coming years.”

The information that Turquoise will be gathering and assessing is about more than just employee satisfaction, important though that is. It will also examine areas such as on-site accommodation and transportation, leading to better understanding of how employees are using these facilities, and delivering recommendations that will lead to improved efficiencies and reduced costs, as well as to a more motivated and satisfied workforce.

Surveys

HPC has been running employee surveys twice a year since 2016, the last of which was completed in May 2018. This is an activity that has been overseen by a number of different agencies over the past two years, but this is the first time that a professional market research company will be heading up the process.

The last survey was completed by some 1,400 employees, and while it delivered some valuable conclusions, HPC is excited at the greater depth that will be brought by having Turquoise’s experience and knowledge base on hand. Theresa Bryant, Resource Planning Manager for HPC explained that several market research firms tendered for the project, but that Turquoise’s innovative approach represented the best value for what HPC was seeking to achieve.

HPC is one of the most significant engineering projects taking place in the UK at the moment and Turquoise is very proud to be a part of it.
